Ms Lindsay

Ironically, my dancing began when I was a little tiny tot at my Aunt's studio in Florida. I quickly took to upbeat styles of dance, like street jazz & hip hop. I absolutely loved my high school dance team and was Captain my senior year.

I then started working for a summer dance camp (WDC) teaching, coaching, and leading middle & high school dance teams. While working for WDC, I was able to travel to Disney World multiple times with workshops & group performances & on a performance cruise to the Caribbean!

While in college I joined my college dance team & also began coaching at a small high school. After 5 years of rebuilding the program, I was so proud to have 18 members and led the team to a 2nd place victory at STATE !! We also attended DX Nationals in Minneapolis!

During that time I opened a dance studio in Stevens Point called "Expressions."

I also purchased the dance camp I was working for and ran the business for a few years, taking more groups on youth trips, before my young family took off to a new job and life in Colorado.

Missing family, we found ourselves in Minocqua! With 3 young children, I was busy but itching to get back to dance! I Coached the Lakeland Thunderettes for about a year and a half before leaving to have baby #4 and be home with the kiddos!

For many years I choreographed for high school dance teams around the state.

While I went to school for Early Childhood and worked at several childcare centers, this was a happy marriage of teaching and dance which all made sense and I learned to LOVE!

Finally, I opened Island City Dance, wanting to offer "my style" of dance in our community! With a "Pom" background and loving the faster styles of dance, I opened my doors in a tiny, adorable space downtown Minocqua. We moved around trying to find the perfect space while trying to make ends meet. We are so lucky to have the opportunity to be at the Campanile Center for the Arts now.

We are going into our 9th season!

I have 4 children, Brayden, Sophie, Rowan & Addy, all of whom have danced with me! (needless to say, they've all got rhythm & moves!!) My daughters still dance with me and it's been a full circle moment watching them take the stage at events I once competed at! I am so proud of them and thrilled to have my whole family helping me run shows each season!

While I am at the studio & working on dance 24/7, I am a want-to-be farm girl!

We have 2 labs, 2 donkeys, and 2 mini horses! I hope to have a hobby farm where my crazy crew can run wild, be loud, and enjoy the outdoors. One day........

I absolutely love what I do and I look forward to working with your dancer(s)!!!

While my oldest heads off to high school this year, I look forward to having Ms. Karen help out, lend a hand, and provide fantastic instruction to our dancers, while I sneak off to a few games here and there! Can't wait!

It's all about BALANCE right!?!?!?!?!?

Ms. Karen

Karen and her husband Shawn are blessed parents of Ainsley (8) and Anika (6) and a four legged daughter Rainbow.

Karen has taught Spanish at LUHS for 20+ years and is the world language department chair, rotary liaison, and Spanish Club advisor.

Karen coached the Lakeland Thunderettes for more than 10 years, growing the team from 8 to as many as 55 on Varsity and JV. During the tenure the team qualified to STATE for the first time in history and had 8

consecutive trips to STATE & 2 trips to Nationals!

She left coaching to start a family but is now ready to get back into serving the art and sport of dance, and her passion for young people, with the Island City Dance Family.

Karen feels blessed beyond measure that her daughters have learned and grown so much in dance and life with ICD, and hopes to continue that work for many others in the community.

- Thank you for joining us Karen! I look forward to working with you! We are lucky to have your experience and "coaching eye" in preparing these dancers to ROCK THAT STAGE!!!

I know the dancers will adore you and parents will appreciate your kindness, patience, and expertise!
